Stanhope to chair Port of Melbourne

John Stanhope has been appointed chairman of Port of Melbourne, Australia.
The Port of Melbourne recently commenced a 50-year lease to a consortium comprising the Future Fund, QIC, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and OMERS.


Stanhope is currently chairman of Australia Post, where he has led the organisation through a period of significant adjustment.

He is also chairman of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the Bionics Institute and is a director of AGL Energy Limited and Our Neighbourhood.


He also took up the position of chancellor of Deakin University from 01 January this year having been a member of Deakin's Council since 2012.


Stanhope was previously chief financial officer and group managing director, Finance and Administration with Telstra Corporation Limited from 2003 to 2011, and was an Executive Director of the corporation from 2009 to 2011.
