Air freight shipper DHL will raise shipping rates for its US export and import services by 5.9 per cent effective January 2, 2011.

The company said the increase will be partially offset by lowering the threshold for its fuel surcharge, cutting the fuel surcharge by two percentage points.

That would make the overall average increase 3.9 per cent.
