Air France-KLM to restructure further? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 September 2009
A European report says Air France-KLM is to heavily restructure its freight operations between now and 2012, first cutting its freighter fleet and then transferring freighter operations to Dutch subsidiary Martinair.

Media outlet Les Echos also said freight rates are going up 20-30 per cent in October as the group shrinks northern winter capacity.

Air France wouldn’t comment on the Les Echos report, and KLM said it was always looking for synergies, but wouldn’t be transferring cargo operations (as distinct from freighter) to Martinair.

The group earlier announced it was going to cut freight capacity by 15 per cent in October as part of a restructuring of its cargo business.  All told, the group operated 29 freighter aircraft in June.
