DHL Express says it plans to move its European headquarter operations from Belgium to both Germany and the Czech Republic – and will shed up to 788 jobs in Brussels.
The company is negotiating the total job losses with unions and says the cuts will be staged over two years.
Workers will be offered positions at the new locations.
DHL parent Deutsche Post made a loss of EUR83 million (US$123 million) in the third quarter.
DHL employs around 5,478 people in Belgium and some 300,000 worldwide.
