The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) says local airlines plan to buy 218 airliners this year.
The 218 will include jumbo jets and regional jets, said CAAC director general Li Jiaxiang.
Last year, Chinese airlines' passenger numbers and freight volumes reached 230 million and 4.46 million tons respectively and CAAC estimates volumes will increase by another 12 per cent this year.
Li also said freight volumes had risen by 95 per cent in January and February alone.
