WA regional airports to have security upgraded

The Western Australia city of Geraldton has received a grant of nearly A$300,000 to purchase and install X-ray and explosive trace detection equipment to increase airport security and safety as part of the Regional Airports Development Scheme (RADS).


Funding allocations for each WA region are: Goldfields-Esperance - A$204,005; Great Southern - A$140,670; Kimberley - A$39,218; Mid-West - A$294,050; Pilbara - A$55,584; South-West - A$497,859 and Wheatbelt - A$16,422.


The projects have been allocated funding from the A$3.88 million set aside for the 2017-19 RADS funding round, with A$2.6 million remaining for future project applications.
