Nausori back in full operation

Nausori Airport, Suva, is now fully operational following cancellation of Fiji Airways B737 services to Sydney and Auckland.

As reported earlier, the airport was adversely affected by a resealing project which suffered from problems such as cracks and surface tackiness.

This initially affected all operations but turbo-prop services were reinstated quickly. Heavier jet operations however were put on hold, requiring passengers to Australia and NZ to transfer by air or road via Nadi International Airport.

Andre Viljoen, FJ’s MD/CEO said the inconvenience to passengers during the service withdrawal was regretted. “We completely empathise and reiterate our safety-first approach in all situations.”

Nausori is used by Fiji Airways and its Fiji Link subsidiary for international, regional and domestic services. It is also utilised by Air Vanuatu for a Port Vila link.

While B737 operations are now active they are subject to limitations and restrictions during severe weather and high runway temperatures.
