Australia Post chief executive Ahmed Fahour  has resigned after seven years.

Fahour, who began the job in 2010 had faced criticism over his annual salary of $5.5million but said this was not the reason he decided to step down.  Fahour said he would leave Australia Post in July and had been planning the move since last year.
