FedEx to spend US$170m on Indianapolis hub

Airfreight major FedEx is to spend US$170 million upgrading its hub at the USA's Indianapolis International Airport.
The airport also is working with officials to boost Indianapolis airfreight rather than Chicago O'Hare or other large cargo airports, said Eric Anderson, the Airport authority's director of Properties.

The airport is targeting passenger flights' belly space for growth.

The Airports Council International says Indianapolis is the eighth-busiest cargo airport in the United States and the 24th-busiest in the world.
FedEx handled 98 per cent of the airport's air freight last year.
