Pezzullo named secretary-designate of Home Affairs
Michael Pezzullo, secretary of Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP), has been named secretary-designate for the new Department of Home Affairs.
His appointment will be finalised when the Department of Home Affairs is established.
The Department of Home Affairs is a proposed Australian government interior department announced by prime minister Malcolm Turnbull earlier this year, with Immigration minister Peter Dutton the designated minister for Home Affairs.
The proposed Home Affairs Department will have responsibilities similar to the UK’s Home Office.
