UPS to raise many rates, surcharge residential deliveries next year

USA-based United Parcel Service is to raise many of its US rates by 4.9 per cent on December 24 2017 and says its 2018 peak season surcharges will focus on residential addresses as the company acknowledges the growth of e-commerce means higher delivery costs.

The costs of delivering packages to businesses are lower than residential, because businesses often receive more packages and bring more revenue per delivery call.
The December 24 increase applies to UPS Ground, UPS Air and International services, plus UPS Air Freight Rates in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
