Heathrow runway consultation 'moves to the people'

The UK’s Transport secretary Chris Grayling has begun a public consultation period and is aiming to publish final proposals for London Heathrow Airport's expansion during the first half of 2018.

It will then be subject to a vote in Parliament.
The British government’s preferred south-east England airport expansion plan is for a new north-west runway at Heathrow.
An updated aviation demand forecast published this week shows all five of London’s main airports will reach their total capacity by the mid-2030s – all of them except Stansted in the next decade.
The public has until December 19 to comment on the revised draft of the policy statement, which includes updated noise analysis, a new air quality plan and government policy changes.
