IAI okayed for B737 conversions

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has has been okayed for Supplemental Type Certificated (STC) cargo conversions for the B737-700BDSF from the USA's FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). 
A prototype passenger to full-freighter configuration - at IAI's Bedek Aviation Group facilities in Israel - included the installation of a wide cargo door and has been delivered to Alaska Airlines as the first of a three-aircraft order. 
 
The converted jets can carry a total of 10 ULDs - 8 Full 88"X 125" AAA plus 1 80"X43" AYK plus 1 88"X79" AYF, providing volume of 3673 cubic feet and enabling the plane to carry up to 45,000 pounds.
 
IAI's Bedek Aviation Group has had 40 years in the design, development, testing, certification and implementation of modifications and conversions of an endless number of platforms, the company says.
