Forwarders and shippers face a lack of airfreight capacity that has seen rates on some lanes as high as US$8.00 per kilo.
As well as backlogs on some routes, airlines are said to be selecting what consignments to accept, while e-commerce is booming and has found favour with airlines because it's a consistently-strong segment and higher-yield.

The airfreight market is particularly tight out of Hong Kong, mainland China and South-east Asia, with the situation said to be worsening.
