CP opens new Victoria facility

Parcel delivery service CouriersPlease (CP) has opened a state-of-the-art logistics facility in Truganina, west of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The site is 29,000 square metres in total, with 12,500 square metres under the roof, and can accommodate over 160 courier vehicles. Additional courier bays will accommodate future growth.
Located in  the new A$440 million logistics hub Drystone Industrial Estate, the CP facility is expected to bring opportunities for small business development for CP franchisees looking to take on exclusive delivery territories in the region.

CP, which delivered more than 17 million parcels Australia-wide and internationally in 2016, has relocated three logistics facilities this year as it expands its reach across Australia and overseas in tandem with the growth in e-commerce and on-line shopping. In September, CP opened the relocated Perth depot in Welshpool, and last year opened the relocated Brisbane depot in Salisbury. A new Adelaide depot is to open in Marleston later this year.

Mark McGinley, chief executive of CP said: “The growth in e-commerce is fuelling an increase in parcel delivery, and we are investing in infrastructure to accommodate for the future growth of parcel volumes. With more Australians purchasing on line, we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of on-line retail parcel delivery.
