CIAS to improve EDI at Changi

CIAS Cargo, one of the cargo ground handlers at Singapore’s Changi international airport, has now enjoyed seven months of successful implementation of its web-based cargo management system, delivering a range of major benefits to customers as well as the company.

Among functions built into the CMS is a ULD inventory control module which tracks and monitors the movement of ULDs and baggage trolleys in the warehouse, enhancing the accuracy of export manifests and cargo billing.

Monitoring functions are also available to check flight handling status and measure performance standards.

Other new features include tarmac shipment processing, export pre-packed shipment acceptance and manifesting, and on-board courier and mail handling.

“In all, we can now boast of an enhanced system that reduces manual processing and its attendant ratio of human errors, and which caters better to our operational needs,” said CIAS.

The CMS is designed to allow ongoing enhancement, with CIAS loading further functions.  The company is also working with carriers to achieve a more integrated electronic data interchange, eliminating duplication of data entry and improving operational efficiency.

CIAS (full name: Changi International Airport Services Pte Ltd) is a subsidiary of Dnata and a member of the Emirates Group
