Customs moving QLD HQ to airport

AFTER an extensive planning process, the Australian Customs Service is in the final stages of lease negotiations with Brisbane Airport Corporation to secure a new purpose-built building for its Queensland headquarters in the airport precinct.

Jenny Eutick, Customs Regional Director, Queensland, said the proposed building site was located within the Number 1 Airport Drive area at the entrance to Brisbane Airport, just across the road from the big Direct Factory Outlet.
BAC’s own impressive headquarters is in the same area.

Eutick said the move would provide Customs with the opportunity to be a sole tenant in a purpose-built facility that could be fitted out to meet Customs’ specific requirements, improve client service and allow for the installation of state-of-the-art security.

Subject to receiving the appropriate government approvals, construction of the building is scheduled to commence in October this year and Customs expects to relocate its current Brisbane operations from the CBD (140 Creek Street)
