WestJet says plan on track

Canada's WestJet is focusing on digital investments in cargo plus network and product expansion this year including a new web site “in anticipation of a shift towards self-service”.

Its priority is delivering reliable solutions to customers by expanding strategic partnerships, further diversifying its product mix, and implementing a digital roadmap with respect to on-line marketplaces for a new web site,” Kirsten de Bruijn, its executive vice president cargo said.

On its network, the airline is adding a bellyhold flight to Seoul, South Korea in May and upgrading its Tokyo Narita, Japan service to year-round.

In total, WestJet Cargo has opened 24 warehouses, 14 freighter-handling stations and expanded its cargo network to a total of 45 destinations for its freighter and bellyhold operations.

It also partnered with freight forwarder Flexport on Canadian exports to Asia and with Awesome Cargo to sell its capacity ex USA.
