March rates continue their rise

Global air cargo rates continued their rise in March, with strong demand and rising rates from Asia and Middle East origins.


WorldACD Market Data says average prices were within -7 per cent of levels this time last year.

Average rates in January and February were -19 per cent below their equivalent levels in 2023, but then the gap narrowed from -15 per cent in week nine to just -7 per cent in week 13, based on more than 450,000 weekly transactions covered by WorldACD’s data.

The current average world-wide rates of US$2.48 per kilo now are almost exactly where they were in Q4 – US$2.47 per kilo, their average level for 2023 and 38 per cent above March 2019 levels.
