WebCargo launches 'predictive' rates tool

Freightos's on-line booking platform WebCargo says a new tool can help airline and forwarder customers predict whether airfreight rates will rise or fall.

The Volatility Index predicts trade lane rate trends using airfreight data generated by WebCargo. It will help industry players protect margins by predicting whether rates on a given lane are likely to rise or fall, WebCargo said.

The tool will use an airline’s recent rate activity to offer user prompts such as “this airline’s rates increased recently in a constant way” or “this airline’s rates decreased recently, fluctuating a lot”.
