The carrier is the first airline in Italy to achieve the milestone, which is part of new EU Customs ICS (Import Control System) rules being progressively introduced throughout all EU member states.
Under the ICS, carriers have to ensure all goods brought into the EU are covered by an ENS lodged with the first-port Customs office, whether or not the final destination is in the EU or beyond. Each first-port Customs office is responsible for security on all inbound shipments that pass through it.
Carriers that do not comply with ENS face heavy fines.
In early trials, Cargoitalia has already achieved 100 per cent accuracy in ENS data transmission for its ex-Hong Kong, Shanghai and US flights.
