Mexicana begins fight back

Grounded Mexican airline Mexicana is in talks with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) seeking to re-enter the Bank Settlement Plan (BSP) as it works toward exiting bankruptcy proceedings.

"We are currently in talks," an IATA spokesman said. "If Mexicana is able to comply with the rules of the system and submit the necessary security deposit, they are welcome to again become active."

IATA suspended Mexicana in August after the carrier was unable to post a security deposit.

Mexicana, along with domestic subsidiaries Click and Link, were grounded later that month amid bankruptcy proceedings.
