TNT set to open WA mega-depot

Perth's booming mining industry was the catalyst behind TNT Express's decision to build a A40 million flagship Australian depot in Welshpool, Western Australia.

The state-of-the art 270-staff Perth facility, which forms an integral part of TNT’s A$100 million investment in Australian infrastructure, will officially open 23 February.

The depot will process 2.8 million consignments annually and house the largest fully-automated parcel sorting system in the Asia Pacific region.

The company says it plans to expand Welshpool staff numbers to 350 within the next five years.

Both Bob Black, managing director, TNT Express Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands and Michael Drake, regional managing director, TNT North Asia will officiate at the opening.
