MASkargo tips volume growth for 2011

Malaysian cargo carrier Malaysia Airlines (MASkargo) - the cargo arm of Malaysia Airlines - is tipping volume growth of five to eight per cent this year.

Managing director Shahari Sulaiman said it would grow on the back of last year's volumes, which grew by 12.8 per cent over 2009 when it handled 605,468 tonnes through KL International Airport (KLIA) alone.

Meanwhile, MASkargo and Germany's Lodige Industries Group have signed a deal to enhance KLIA's material-handling control system.

The upgrade will allow the cargo centre to handle one million tonnes per annum at a cost of around RMB100 million.
