TSA bringing forward 100pc inbound screening rule?

The USA Transportation Security Administration is expected to accelerate its schedule to enforce security screening of international air cargo carried on US-bound passenger flights.

TSA appears poised to require screening of 100 per cent of cargo bound for the United States by the end of this year, two years sooner than expected.

Carriers have 45 days to comment on the proposed mandate, with TSA reviewing industry comments before it makes the rule final.

TSA also has ordered a ban on any cargo designated "high risk."

Other safeguards restrict small packages sent by mail, which often travel in the cargo holds of passenger aircraft.
