Edinburgh airport scales back expansion plans

Scotland's Edinburgh airport has scaled back its expansion plans and now is not likely to need a second runway in the next 30 years, a new report says. Operator BAA had previously expected it handle 14 million passengers by 2013 and 26 million by 2030. However, the economic downturn, uncertainty over international air traffic growth and the scrapping of a rail link to the city are likely to slow growth from the current nine million to about 12.3 million by 2020.
