Qantas A380s back at full strength soon

Australia's Qantas has been okayed by jet engine maker Rolls-Royce to operate A380 aircraft at full payload on the Australia-Los Angeles, USA route.

The airline had stopped using A380s on the route after Rolls-Royce placed restrictions on the engines. Qantas said last year that the thrust requirements would limit A380 operations to as few as 80 passengers on the route.

Rolls-Royce now apparently is confident it has identified the problem that caused a Qantas A380 engine to explode over Indonesia in November.

Qantas now has the A380 services scheduled to restart from January 17.
