New group to challenge for Asia's cargo

Asia's China Eastern Airlines, Singapore Airlines, China Ocean Shipping and  a subsidiary of Eva Airways are to combine cargo operations at China's largest air cargo port, Shanghai.

They will create a join entity named China Cargo Airlines with a combined investment of US$2 billion.

The service is aimed to commence before the start of the new year and will bring a major competitor for both Air China's and Cathay Pacific Airlines' cargo arms.
