Weekend snow closed airports across Europe late last week, some for hours at a time.

In the UK, 10 and 20 centimetre dumps were reported "in hours" over much of the south of the country and both London Gatwick and London Heathrow were forced to shut down.

Frankfurt and Berlin in Germany also reported closures, as did Amsterdam Schiphol, Netherlands and Geneva, Switzerland.
