Infratil Airports, the New Zealand parent of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, saysthe Scottish airport handled freight in October of 1186 tonnes, up slightly from the 1167 tonnes reported for the same month in 2009.

It also saw 17 per cent more passengers in October compared to the same period last year, at 177,280 compared with 152,163 in the same month in 2009.

In the seven months to October 31, it saw a total of 1,181,937 passengers.
