K+N headed for healthy full-year result

Logistics major Kuehne + Nagel says it's headed for strongly improved results for the full year.

Chief executive Reinhard Lange said CHF271 million profit for the last quarter was a record.

In contract logistics, the Switzerland-based group said recovering domestic economies in the leading industrial nations had stabilised the market.

Seafreight saw a 17 per cent increase in container volumes but growth in the global seafreight market softened in the third quarter.

Airfreight tonnage was up 29 per cent in the first nine months, although growth in the international airfreight market slowed in the middle of the year.

Sales of European road and rail transport were up 9.5 per cent.

Overall, for the first nine months of 2010, sales were up 8.6 per cent to CHF15.2 billion.
