Airline, airport staff join French strikers

Airport and airline workers in France were on strike Tuesday protesting government changes to retirement age and pensions.

Air France staff and employees at Charles de Gaulle, Beauvais and Orly airports all walked out.

Overall, hundreds of thousands of people were believed to have joined the protest, the fourth day of demonstrations against the reforms.

Irish carrier Ryanair alone cancelled around 250 flights between the UK and France.

The industrial action was expected to impact as many as half of all flights into and out of Paris Orly airport and a third of flights to and from Charles de Gaulle.
