Canada's Air Canada and the USA's United Airlines have inked a revenue-sharing joint venture for flights between Canada and the United States, effective next year.

Air Canada is the world's 15th-largest airline with 31 million passengers a year.

The joint venture is subject to regulatory approvals, although the US Department of Transportation has already granted anti-trust immunity.
