Six to pay US$50.27m

Further to last week's AirCargo freight cartel article on BAX Global, a total of six international freight forwarders now have agreed to plead guilty and to pay criminal fines totalling US$50.27 million in the USA.

The six companies - EGL, Kühne + Nagel, Panalpina, Schenker, BAX and Geologistics International Management (Bermuda) - agree they engaged in one or more separate conspiracies to impose charges or fees on customers.

The plea agreements are subject to court approval but the six companies have agreed to pay the following fines: EGL US$4,486,120; K+N US$9,865,044; Panalpina US$11,947,845; Schenker US$3,535,514; BAX Global US$19,745,927 and Geologistics US$687,960.
