Happy landings for Burkill

The British Airways captain in charge of the crash landing of a BA plane at London Heathrow has rejoined the airline.

Peter Burkill was hailed a hero after 152 people on board survived when the jet lost power in January 2008, but he later left the airline because of rumours that he 'froze' in the cabin during the emergency.

Having taken voluntary redundancy, however, Burkill found other airlines would not even interview him for a flying role, even after the Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said the incident was due to restricted "fuel flow" to both its engines caused by a build-up of ice.

He'll be flying B777s after BA 'welcomed him back'.
