Condor slapped with cartel fine

Germany's antitrust agency says it has fined the Condor airline, a subsidiary of Thomas Cook, EUR1.2 million for illegally co-ordinating prices on flights between Germany and Turkey.

The Federal Cartel Office said Condor was fined for price fixing with SunExpress in 2009 on routes simultaneously operated by the two companies.

It says the two airlines agreed SunExpress would not offer flights from Germany to Turkey for less than EUR99, and tickets were not to be more than EUR10 cheaper than Condor's.

SunExpress, a joint venture of Deutsche Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, was the whistleblower on the investigation and will not be fined.
