Judge lifts United-Continental block

The judge who was asked to block UAL Corporation's (United's) merger with Continental Airlines says the deal won't create a monopoly and shouldn't be blocked on antitrust grounds.

US District Judge Richard Seeborg said the plaintiffs failed to argue adequately the merger will substantially reduce competition in the airline industry.

The plaintiffs' lawyer said he will appeal Seeborg's ruling.
