China Airlines to pay cartel fine

Taiwan's China Airlines will plead guilty in the USA and offer to pay a US$40 million fine over a five year period for its role in an air cargo pricing cartel, the US Department of Justice has said.

"China Airlines engaged in a conspiracy to fix the cargo rates charged to customers for international air cargo shipments to and from the United States," the DoJ said.

"If approved by the court, the agreement will resolve the DoJ investigation as to China Airlines," the airline said.
