FAA moves to fine Evergreen

The USA's Federal Aviation Administration says it wants to fine Evergreen International Airlines nearly US$4.9 million for allegedly not completing an FAA-approved pilot training program.

It says in 2009 the airline used pilots who had not been properly trained in the use of a new flight management system.

The FAA claims Evergreen did not provide its pilots with enough training flights to familiarise themselves with the new system.

The FAA added that Evergreen now complies with the FAA rules for training.
