German's Lufthansa has named Christoph Franz as successor to ceo Wolfgang Mayrhuber effective January 1, 2011.

Franz has been Mayrhuber's deputy and chief of the Lufthansa's brand passenger unit since June last year.

In other moves, Carsten Spohr has been appointed to the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group and made ceo and chairman of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board.
