Deutsche Bahn wants London-Germany bullet train service

German railway giant Deutsche Bahn is to trial a 200mph high-speed cross-Channel link between London, UK and Frankfurt, Germany to compete with airlines and rail operator Eurostar.

The company will route a 'bullet train' through the Channel tunnel and into the UK capital's St Pancras International terminal on October 19 to showcase plans for a high speed link between the two financial centres from December 2013.

A direct non-stop route is achievable in 3 hours 55 minutes, about half an hour faster than a plane journey including airport transfer times, the firm says.
