TSA ignores screening recommendation

The USA's Transportation Security Administration says there is no need for it to develop a contingency plan in case it fails to meet its mandate to screen 100 per cent of domestic air cargo by August 2010.

The recommendation came from the Government Accountability Office on the basis that in the case of screening non-compliance under current TSA guidelines, the cargo simply will not fly.

The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Transportation Security Administration, did not agree with GAO's view.
