Unlicensed pilots problem 'long fixed'

China's aviation regulator has clarified the background on this month's story that nearly 200 pilots had falsified their work histories.

It said the problems were resolved in 2008, but officials had not spoken out before now.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China said officials wanted to demonstrate the importance the agency places on safety as it carried out an investigation into an August 24 crash, the country's worst in several years.
