BA-AA jv live from October

UK carrier British Airways and joint venture partner USA-based AMR Corporation's American Airlines say their agreement will go live from next month.

BA vice president for the Americas Simon Talling-Smith said the two airlines will align their frequent flier programs as soon as the venture starts.

The companies will then co-ordinate their schedules as of next year and add new destinations in the US and Europe.

Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA (Iberia), the Spanish airline joining the jv through its merger with BA, will contribute about 10 per cent of the venture's estimated US$7 billion in annual revenue, Talling-Smith said.
