Three would-be bombers get life

Three British Muslim men involved in the Al Qaeda-linked plot to destroy transatlantic airliners are facing life behind bars with a minimum 20 years each.

Arafat Waheed Khan, 28, Ibrahim Savant, 29 and Waheed Zaman, 25 were to be suicide bombers in a plot intended to eclipse 9/11.

They were among eight men tried in connection with an Al-Qaeda plot to detonate home-made liquid bombs on transatlantic jets.

They had been cleared by a jury of their role in targeting aeroplanes but put on trial again to face charges of conspiracy to murder.

The latest verdicts bring to an end three separate trials relating to the plot over the past three years.
