Air France announces layoffs

Europe's Air France plans to slash more than 4,000 ground and admin staff jobs by 2013 as a result of financial problems caused by the global economic downturn. Unions have reacted angrily.

Air France-KLM employs 103,000 staff and in the year to the end of March declared a loss of EUR1.3 billion.
