Saudi introduces e-gate

Saudi Arabia has introduced the e-gate system at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.

The system automates Customs clearance for passengers and allows them to satisfy entry and exit procedures in less than 10 seconds.

Officers at registration centres first check each applicant's identity and upload his/her biometric features (fingerprints and eye images) into the system before issuing an e-gate card with the applicant's photo.

The e-gate facility soon also will be available at other airports in the Kingdom.
