BAA doubles pay offer

UK airport operator BAA reportedly has agreed to double its pay offer to staff including security personnel and firemen to avert a strike that threatened to disrupt travel plans for millions over the coming UK holiday weekend.

Affected staff are understood to have been offered a two per cent increase in basic pay and allowances back-dated to January 1, 2010 plus a guaranteed bonus of at least GBP500.

Staff can earn a further GBP400 bonus if BAA airports reach 110 per cent of target earnings.
