MAS into red in Q2

Malaysia's national carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) says it made a loss in the second quarter, due to costs of fuel hedging and higher fuel prices.

The loss - of MYR535 million compared to a net profit of MYR875.5 million in the same period a year ago - was for the quarter ended June 30.

The losses came despite total revenue climbing 26 per cent to MYR3.21 billion from MYR2.54 billion a year earlier.

Load factor and yield both were improved.
