Major markets feed HK recovery

Almost all of Hong Kong's major trading markets showed yearly double-digit growth in July.

Exports, especially to North America and Europe, rose 36 per cent.

Import and trans-shipment volumes saw year-on-year growth of 23 per cent and two per cent respectively.

The airport also saw cargo throughput grow 33.3 per cent year-on-year to 2.3 million tonnes in the first seven months to end July.

The Airports Council International's latest report showed Hong Kong International Airport retained its position as the world's busiest global cargo airport for the 14th consecutive year and handled the world's third largest international passenger volume in 2009.
